William Revell Cemetery
The 1940-41 veterans' graves registration gave locating directions: From Sopchoppy and the intersection of U.S. Highway #319 with State Road #127, proceed west on said #127 for 1 mile; turn left (south) on dirt road going 1 mile to cemetery which lies 3/10 mile to left and east of road in field. Local testimony about the probable whereabouts of this lost cemetery on the west border of the Sopchoppy River is treated in A Family History, a 1999 typescript by David Roddenberry (Chapter IV of the work). The 1940-41 veterans' graves document gives the graveyard as the burial place of Seminole War veteran William (Wesley) Revell, and locates the site one mile south of present-day Hwy. C-375. A large area on the west side of the river thereabout was the 19th Century farm of William Wesley Revell (b.1814).
