September 12 Program - "50 Years of Wakulla High School"

Post date: Sep 01, 2017 6:53:21 PM

The Wakulla County Historical Society program on Tuesday, September 12 will feature "50 years of Wakulla High School".  The program will begin at 7:00 PM in the Wakulla County Public Library.   In 1967, three community high schools, Sopchoppy, Crawfordville and Shadeville, were consolidated into one county high school.  Wakulla County High School opened its doors for the first time on August 28, 1967, with an enrollment of 564 students in grades 7 through 12.  History and memories will be shared by Bill Payne, Harold Thurmond, David Miller, David Harvey, Coach J. D. Jones, Judy and Bob Myhre, Andrea Carter and Bobby Pearce.  We will have the yearbooks there as well as articles and a slideshow of pictures.  If you have school memorabilia you would like to show, please feel free to bring what you have.  It promises to be a fun evening of reminiscing and learning more about our county’s high school.

For more information about the Sept. 12 program, please call (850) 926-1110.  We look forward to seeing everyone there.
