PANACEA - Linda Lou Eakin, 53, who retired as a registered nurse for Capital Regional Medical Center, died Tuesday, May 17, 2005, at her home. She is survived by her husband, Paul L. Eakin. She enjoyed her involvement with her husband and the Florida Highway Patrol activities. Linda was a ham radio operator, call letters K4LLE, and a member of the Sportsman's Paradise Amateur Radio Club. On early-morning and late-night trips to and from work, she enjoyed chatting with Paul (KJ4G) and her many friends. She was loved by the FHP and the amateur-radio community. Linda will be remembered as a loving, caring and kind person. She was very dedicated to her patients and their well being. She lived each day with an appreciation for life and had a strong faith in God. Her family and friends will miss her beautiful smile and loving ways. James K. Edenfield, 79, the retired owner of a lock and safe business, died Saturday, August 6, 2005. CRAWFORDVILLE: Edra Edwards, 91, of Crawfordville died Friday, Feb. 5, 1993 at Tallahassee Community Hospital. The service was at 3 pm Sunday, Feb. 7 at Sopchoppy Cemetery. A native of Greensboro and resident of Crawfordville for 65 years, she was a homemaker and a Baptist. She is remembered by many as the widow of fishing guide, Steve Edwards. She is survived by Steve Edwards Jr. of Crawfordville; a daughter, Ruby Snyder of Ochlockonee Bay; a sister, Myrtice Gray of Warner Robbins, Ga.; a grandchild and great-grandchild who she raised, Cheryll Olah and Ray Willis, Crawfordville, and two other grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a great-great-grandchild. SOPCHOPPY - Joseph Clinton "Bully" Edwards Jr., 77, died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2006, at his home after an extended illness. The graveside service will be at 3 p.m. EST Sunday at West Sopchoppy Cemetery, with the Rev. Maurice Langston officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the cemetery. He was a meteorologist for Pan American Airlines and the assistant manager of meteorology at Delta Air Line in Atlanta. He was a former vice commodore of the 8th District US Coast Guard Auxiliary, where he also participated in operations, member training and public education. He was the co-founder of Southeast Weather Consultants Inc., served on the Wakulla Adult and Community Education Advisory Committee and was a member of the Hamilton Fire Company in New Jersey. He was a Lutheran. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary Jo Emmons of Medart; and a son, James J. Emmons of Medart.
Linda Joan "Vick" Erikson, 61, died Monday, October 22, 2007. A native of Tallahassee, she was a retired executive secretary who had worked for the Department of Education. Joan learned to read at an early age and reading was one of her favorite pastimes. MEXICO BEACH - Clayton "Clay" Terence Eubanks, 32, a real-estate broker and developer, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, at the University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis, Minn., surrounded by his loving wife, Amy, and family. Clay was an avid Seminole fan, hunter and fisherman. The service will be at 1 p.m. EST Saturday, Feb. 9, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Tallahassee. Burial will follow at 4 p.m. EST in the Lake Mystic Cemetery, Bristol. The family will receive friends at the St. Paul's United Methodist Church Chapel Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. EST. Clay was born Nov. 7, 1975, in Tallahassee, Fla., to Kay and Terry Eubanks. He was a graduate of Florida State University. From birth you could see that Clay was a "natural born" fighter. He was born with FA, diagnosed at 16, and had a bone-marrow transplant in 1993 for treatment. In February 2007 he was diagnosed with lung cancer due to the FA and had surgery to remove two lobes of his right lung in May. After his three-month check-up it was determined a second surgery would be necessary in September to remove the rest of the lung. After the second surgery he developed pneumonia that led to ARDS (Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome). Clay was in critical condition and on a ventilator. After a couple of months on the ventilator, he was transferred to a LTACH (long-term acute-care hospital) that specializes in weaning patients from the ventilator, which they were able to successfully accomplish. He was a week shy of his return home to Mexico Beach when he aspirated, causing another severe infection worsening his ARDS. Clay then returned to the University of Minnesota ICU unit and was again supported by a ventilator. A loving and devoted wife Amy, a loving family, and a host of friends supported Clay. Clay was a "lover of life" and had an incredible will to live. His fantastic sense of humor and lovable stubbornness contributed to his groundbreaking survival. Through his fearlessness, Clay taught us all to be strong in the face of adversity. From Clay's journey, he made us all realize that "Life is good" no matter what the circumstances. We were all inspired by him. Dewey Burmi Eubanks, 75, retired owner of Florida Printing Co., died Friday, May 28, 2004, at his home. The graveside service will be at 10 a.m. EDT Tuesday at Tallahassee Memory Gardens. He was born in Liberty County on June 16, 1928, and lived there until his senior year of high school, when he moved to Tallahassee to work and finish school. It was there he met and married his life partner, Lila Kathryn Turner. They were married on March 30, 1946. Dewey sold office supplies, forms and furniture until opening his own business, Florida Forms and Systems in the early 1960s. In 1966 he purchased Florida Printing Co. with his father-in-law, Alfred L. Turner. After Mr. Turner retired, Dewey continued as owner and operator of the business until his own retirement in 1988. Dewey was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a mentor and role model for his children and grandchildren. Always surrounded by family, Dewey was ready to listen and if asked, provide advice. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he served on the Board of Deacons. He also was a member of the Roy Rhodes Sunday School Class. Survivors include his wife, Lila Turner Eubanks of Tallahassee; two daughters, Kathryn Eubanks Rivenbark (and husband Ted) and Melissa Eubanks Green (and husband Arthur), both of Tallahassee; a brother, Jerome Bracewell of Bristol; six grandchildren, Marcia R. John Robert "Bob" Eubanks Jr., 66, a retired supervisor for Talquin Electric, died Friday, Nov. 25, 2005, at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Glenda "Nippi" Eubanks. The service will be at 2 p.m. EST Monday at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, Timberlane Road Chapel (850-893-4177), with burial at Culley's MeadowWood Memorial Park. A longtime friend, the Rev. William Hall, will officiate the service. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 EST today at the funeral home. He was born Dec. 25, 1938, in Americus, Ga., to John Robert and Theresa Eubanks, who preceded him in death. Bob had lived in Tallahassee and Crawfordville for most of his adult life. He was a graduate of Americus High School and served in the National Guard. He retired from Talquin Electric Co-Op after 30 years of faithful service. After his retirement he pursued and completed a program to become a private investigator and received his diploma and license after successfully completing the required program at Thomson Academy. He worked at the Ramada Inn North in Tallahassee as chief of the security department after receiving his license. He was an avid sportsman and loved to hunt and fish. The many trophies on the wall of his family home attest to this. Other survivors include two daughters, Crystal Gay Cherry (and husband Andy and their two children, Candi and Drew Cherry) of Albany, Ga., Shawn Sharpton (and her two children, Gabriel and Jordan Hoover) of Crawfordville; two sons, Todd Eubanks (and his two children, Kareena Elaine and Robert Gray of Peachtree City, Ga., and Freddie Sharpton of Perry; two great-grandchildren, Gage and Tommy Eubanks of Kansas City, Mo.; two dear friends, Odie Hoover and Earl Harder; and a host of other relatives and friends. The family wishes to express the following: "Many of you have asked us in the past few days, 'Let me know if there is anything I can do.' Yes, there is . . . we want each and every one of you sometime in the next weekend or next week or day to just enjoy life. He married the late Estelle Harris Eubanks of Woodville, Fl. Mr. Eubanks was employed by the Wakulla County School system as a school bus driver for 27 years. Galen Everett age 89 of Crawfordville, Fl. Formerly of Evergreen Park/Chicago, IL passed away Sunday, June 19, 2016. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Helen Everett (nee Johnson). Galen was a graduate of Tilden Technical High School, class of 1945. In 1946 Galen joined the Air Force and was stationed in Japan. After the Service, Galen attended Morgan Park Academy Junior College, where he met his loving wife Helen Marie Johnson. Galen and Helen wed in May of 1952 at Our Lady Of Peace Catholic Church. Galen worked for Western Electric from 1955 and retired from Lucent Technologies in 1987. Galen came to Crawfordville, Florida in Jan 2010 to stay the winter with his Daughter. He made so many friends and enjoyed the Wakulla Senior Center that he decided to make Crawfordville his permanent home. Galen is survived by his five daughters; Susan (David) Howell, Mary (the late Lawrence) Misiolek, Nancy (James) Foody, Jean Miller and Linda (Andrew) Nilles. Grandchildren; Jeffrey (Rachel) Misiolek, Brian Misiolek (significant other Julie Gilbert), Michael Foody, Megan Foody, Daniel Foody, Edward Miller, Patrick Miller, Samuel Nilles, Charles Nilles, 2 Great-Granddaughters, Evelyn Misiolek, Eleanor Misiolek and Great-Grandson Keller Misiolek.
