CRAWFORDVILLE - Billy Wilson Gaby, 78, who retired from the Department of Revenue after 30 years of service, died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005. She was a member of Wakulla Church of Christ. She enjoyed talking with her friends and was an active member at the Wakulla County Senior Center. Dorothy Seruby Gaiter, 82, a teacher in Leon County Schools for more than 30 years, died Saturday, March 17, 2007. The service will be at 11 a.m. EDT Saturday at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 224 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., with burial at Roselawn Cemetery. Viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. EDT Saturday at the church. Dorothy was born in Atlantic Highlands, N.J., to William Seruby and Jane Hunter. She graduated from Middletown Township High School in 1942 in Leonardo, N.J., and earned a Bachelor of Science and two master's degrees in art and early childhood education from Florida A&M University. Dorothy was a founding member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church and was active in many organizations, including Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, attaining the status of a Delta Dear. She was a member of the Florida A&M University Retirees' Club and Church Women United and she was a vigilant member of Callen Community Homeowners' Association. She played pinochle with a tight group of friends every month for more than 45 years. She met every month for a potluck meal with other retirees from Sabal Palm School until her death. She loved gardening and her pets. Survivors include three daughters, Juarlyn L. Gaiter, Ph.D, of Atlanta, Dorothy J. Gaiter (and husband John Brecher and their daughters, Media and Zoe) of Manhattan and Karen Tolley (and husband David and their children, Hannah, Clare and Gloria) of Crawfordville; a brother, Melvin Seruby; and many loving relatives and treasured friends. JACKSONVILLE - George M. Gallamore Jr., 70, who retired from CSX Railroad Co., died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Anne N. Gallamore. He was a member of the Jacksonville Genealogical Society, where he was a past research chairman. His body has been donated to science. Other survivors include a son, Tommy C. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and was much loved by everyone who knew her. Mrs. Gaylard had an infectious laugh and a legendary wit. Allen Roston "Pete" Gerrell, 74, died Friday, August 3, 2007, doing what he loved most, traveling with his beloved wife Terri, and their malamute, Kiva. He served in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. He retired from the City of Tallahassee Utilities Department after 27 years of service, and continued to work for a number of years as an electrical engineer. Pete was a rugged individualist, a staunch supporter of private property rights and as decent and honest a man as you could ever hope to meet. Pete's passion was the woods and the history of the turpentine and forestry industries in the southeastern United States. He authored two books: "Naval Stores (Turpentine) Industry" and "Old Trees" and started a publishing company, SYP Publishing. He was considered a resident expert on local history and owned a vast collection of artifacts with his wife. Like many Gerrells, he was a tree farmer and a life-long avid hunter and outdoorsman. When Pete's grandsons wanted to hunt or fish, they asked their daddy to take them to ?P-pa's Pines'. Pete is survived by his wife, Terri; his five children, Allen, Christy, Cathy, Mike and Dan. He has three siblings: sister, Marilee Butler; brother, Dale (and wife Dee); and brother, Lawson (and wife, Jadon). Pete was also blessed with 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Janet Suzanne Gibb, age 71, passed away at her home on September 30, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was born on August 3, 1945 in Demopolis, Alabama to Robert and Nell (Alvis) Russ. Janet worked as a paralegal for 50 years before retiring in 2012. She loved watching her grandkids play sports, she loved to golf, and she loved her girls and vacationing with them. Janet also enjoyed a good glass of chardonnay and intense games of scrabble with her husband, Bob. On December 11, 1987, she married Robert Gibb, and he survives her along with two daughters, Bobbi (James) Cawley of Jackson, MI and their children, Rachelle, Mikel, Jaimi, and Jon Ashley; Kelli (Jon) Lund of Grand Haven and their children, Lauren, Cameron and Conner; step-children, Jessica (Adam) Bursma of Vermont and their children, Elaina, Anders, and Katje, and Bob (Kris) Gibb of Troy, MI and their children, Avery and Brody; two great grandchildren; and two sisters, Ginger (Dr. Danny) Miller of Macon, Georgia and Cindy Russ of Montgomery, AL. Janet was preceded in death by her parents. The last 10 years she made her home in Ochlockonee Bay and Panacea. Lucille was a talented artisan and excelled in the woodworking inlay discipline of marquetry, which earned her notoriety, awards and respect from the American Marquetry Society for her hand-cut pictures She is survived by her husband, Grady L. Gibbs; her father, Albert L. Grimes; two sons, Nick Roberts of Tallahassee and Austin Smith of Panama City; two grandsons, Jimmy and Jacob Roberts of Tallahassee; and her sister, Linda Marie Gunter of Tallahassee. CRAWFORDVILLE - Richard Warren Goodman, 81, an artist, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, at his home. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Reba Goodman. A private family remembrance of his life was at Harvey-Young Funeral Home (850-926- 3333). A graveside service followed at St. Elizabeth Cemetery. The eulogy was given by Jeffrey Hunter, and Father James MacGee officiated. Born in Detroit, Richard Goodman spent the first 16 years of his life in an orphanage in Lackawanna, N.Y. As a young man, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps, where he planted trees and built rock buildings in national parks, most of which still stand. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II, traveling back and forth across U-Boat Alley, where his ship eventually sunk. He survived two weeks in a lifeboat, where he was badly sunburned causing lifelong skin problems. After the war, he worked for the automobile industry in Detroit as the youngest foreman in its history. He then moved to Tampa, where he worked for Stauffer Chemical Co. After his retirement, he studied art and became a master artist. With his wife Reba, he opened and operated a successful art gallery. They sold paintings by many artists, but produced most themselves. Retiring again, they made their home in Crawfordville. Other survivors include two children by his first wife, Alice Dwiggins, Paul Goodman (and wife Colletta) and MarySue Belluomini (and husband Umberto and their sons, Brandon and Giuliano). Over the years of this marriage, they also cared for upwards of 40 foster children. She assisted her husband with the Tallahassee Shrine Club Road Runners trips for burn victims. She is survived by a son, Rufus Alan Graddy (and wife Gina) of Mashes Sands; a daughter, Bunny Sims (and husband Buddy) of Tallahassee; and two grandsons, David M. He was promoted to sergeant in 1996, served as sniper team leader, COPP Squad Sergeant and K-9 team sergeant. At the time of his death he was field training sergeant. He was a firearms instructor, a range master and a member of the TPD Pistol Team. He was a member of Whiddon Lake Baptist Church and regularly sang. Jerry Louis Grice, 61, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004, following a brief battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Tycelia "Tycee" Dalton Grice. Jerry was born April 25, 1943, in Cleveland, Ohio, and moved to Florida at age 2 weeks. He attended Leon High School. He served in the U.S. Navy, participating in the Cuban Crisis. Jerry, with his wife and partner, co-owned and operated Jerry Grice Welding Inc. for more than 34 years. He and his wife shared 41 years of extreme joy, trials and tribulations, and everything in between. Known throughout the world for his metalwork, including sculptures, he also was a bladesmith, making knives as a hobby. He had won several awards at knife shows. He was a member of the National Ornamental and Miscellaneous Metals Association (NOMMA), actively working on committees with education as his top priority. He served as president of the association from 1994 to 1995. Throughout the years he won numerous awards for his work, including a gold award for the dolphin sculpture behind the Capitol. Working with artist-designer Hugh Nicholson, he welded and put together each dolphin. His love of metal can be seen throughout Tallahassee and other cities around the U.S. Jerry also was a member of the Artist-Blacksmith Association of North America (ABANA) and the state chapter of the Florida Artist-Blacksmith Association (FABA). He was a member of the Elks Lodge. He was a believer in family participation, working with the Soap Box Derby, both when his children raced and, most recently, with his grandchildren racing. He was a beloved father and adored as "Grumpy" by his grandchildren. Survivors include two children, Louis Keith Grice (and wife Shannon) of Palm Bay and Tonya Asbell (and husband John) of Crawfordville; five grandchildren, Logan, Shelby and Lucas Grice, all of Palm Bay, Christine Asbell of Macon, Ga., and Jordan Asbell of Crawfordville; a great-grandson, Symon Gower of Macon; and a sister-in-law, Janet Dalton Harrison. He was a member and Past Master of Brandon Masonic Lodge #114 F&AM, member and Past Patron of Lindsley Chapter 152 Eastern Star, member of Plumbers and Pipefitters local 123. He was retired from Davy Mckee Corporation as a Job Superintendent. He loved God, family and people and was always laughing and talking even after getting so sick. Loved golf, fishing and hunting. Loved his wife and children very much and loved his nieces and nephews as if they were his own children. He appreciated all the good and kind deeds of his friends and of Hospice. He had many special "work" friends who have gone on before him. Funeral services were held Friday, March 5th, 2004 at 4:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Brandon, 216 N. Parsons St. Family received friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment followed at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens Cemetery where a Masonic Service was conducted. After Mr. Barber passed away, she operated the store with her husband, James Grimsley. They retired from the furniture store in 1997. She was a member of Camilla United Methodist Church. She was the daughter of Frank and Mary Allen Mathis. She then moved to New York City, where she was a dancer in musical productions for several years. She married Dr. William Clyde Roberts in 1932. Following Dr. Roberts death in 1948, she became an executive for the New York Life Insurance Co. in New York City. She later married Matthew Grove of New York City and, upon retirement, the Groves lived in Miami and Crystal River. She was very active in Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority and was a former national president. She is survived by a niece, Jean Whitfield Revell of Tallahassee; a nephew, William K. Whitfield Jr. of Tallahassee; and many grand-nieces and -nephews. Nina M. Gunn, 93, a homemaker, died Monday, March 21, 2005, in Crawfordville. The service will be at 11 a.m. EST Thursday at New Light Church in Wakulla County, with burial at Aenon Cemetery in Tallahassee. Family will receive friends an hour before the service at the church. Mrs. Gunn was born Jan. 4, 1912, in Tallahassee and was a lifelong resident. She was a member of New Light Church. Survivors include a daughter, Bertha M. Thompson (and husband Bobby) of Tallahassee; two sons, George Edward Gunn (and wife Betty) of Crawfordville and Kenneth Gunn (and wife Thelma) of Woodville; a brother, Albert C. Hartsfield of Tallahassee; nine grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Woodville - Rhonda Kirkland Guthrie, 43, a legal secretary, died Wednesday, June 11, 2003, in Gainesville. A native of Abilene, Texas, and a longtime resident of Panama City, she moved to Tallahassee 26 years ago. She was a legal secretary for McConnaughhay, Duffy, Coonrod, Pope & Weaver and previously worked for Municipal Code Corp. for 21 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Woodville, where she was a Sunday school teacher in the children's department. Survivors include her husband, Mitchell W. Guthrie; a daughter, Jordan Leigh Guthrie of Woodville; her mother, Willena Kirkland of Crawfordville; her father, Paul Kirkland (and wife Genetha) of Altha; two sisters, Paula Crosby (and husband Jerry) and Shelly Johnson, both of Woodville; her maternal grandmother, Mildred Plemons of San Angelo, Texas; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, R.V. and Janet Whitman of Tallahassee; two sisters-in-law, Linda Guthrie and Sonja Guthrie, both of Tallahassee; three nephews; two nieces; and other friends and family members too numerous to name.
