Jackson, Ader Bell Minor - Crawfordville - Ader Bell Minor Jackson, 80, of Crawfordville died Wednesday at Capital health Care Center. The service will be at 2 pm Saturday at Tower Pentecostal Church in Crawfordville, with burial at Aaron Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 am to 8 pm today at Harvey-Young Funeral Home in Crawfordville. A Tennessee native who had lived in Crawfordville for eight years, she was a homemaker. Survivors include two sons, Frank Jackson of Crawfordville and Carl Jackson of Turlock, Calif.; two daughters, Gloria Cox of Panacea and Ruby Osborne of Atlanta; a sister, Levenie Price of East St. Louis, Mo.,; and 17 grandchildren.
State Mother Alice Jackson, 97, a minister of the Church of Christ Written in Heaven No.1 and the Woodville Church, died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2005. The service will be at 11 a.m. EDT Saturday at Tabernacle Church of Christ Written in Heaven, 12425 Blue Star Highway in Gretna, with burial at Southside Cemetery in Tallahassee. Viewing will be from 1 to 8 p.m. EDT Friday at Strong and Jones Funeral Home (850-224-2139). Mother Alice Jackson was born Aug. 17, 1908, in Wakulla County to Mr. and Mrs. John Marshall. She was educated in the Wakulla County school system. One of the founders of the Church of Christ Written in Heaven Inc., she served as state mother for the Tallahassee Diocese for more than five decades. Survivors include three daughters, Pauline Williams (and husband George), Lillie Mae Cofield (and husband Arthur) and Susie Williams; a son, James Jackson (and wife Lucinda), all of Tallahassee; four grandchildren whom she raised, Kenny Smith (and wife Gerald), Cheryl Davis, Craig Davis and Kimberly Brown (and husband Ted); 65 grandchildren; 96 great-grandchildren; 75 great-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-great-grandchildren. James, A. Neil - A. Neil James, 73, who retired as flight line supervisor at Tallahassee Regional Airport, died Friday, Jan 13, 2006. Neil was a decorated U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked for the city of Tallahassee and retired as flight line supervisor at the airport. He was a caring and humble man who enjoyed his family, bass fishing, working in his yard and collecting antiques. He especially liked old tools, which he restored to like-new status. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Clara K. James; three sons, Randy Paul of Crawfordville, Neil James Jr. of Perry and Gary Paul of Tallahassee; three daughters, Ann Miller, Pam Clague and Barbara Cannon, all of Tallahassee; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Gene and Bill, both of Ohio. Dickinson; two grandchildren, Jennifer T. Dickinson of Merritt Island and Brian A. Dickinson of Seattle; a brother, Charles W. George D. Johnston III was lifted by the Lord on Friday morning, June 3rd, 2016 at the age of 66 years old. Family and friends were invited to attend visitation on Tuesday evening, June 7th, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Family Funeral Home, 84 Ochlockonee Street, Crawfordville, Florida. Graveside service was held Wednesday morning, 10:00 a.m., at the Tallahassee National Cemetery on 5015 Apalachee Parkway, Tallahassee, Florida. His cousin, Reverend John Bush from Montgomery, Alabama, officiated. Military Honors followed. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Big Bend Hospice, 2889 Crawfordville Highway, Crawfordville, Florida, 32327. George is the son of George and Dorothy Johnston. He was born in Columbus, Georgia and is preceded in death by his Mother and Father. He is survived by four siblings, Michael Johnston (wife Katy) of Tallahassee, Florida, Thomas Johnston (wife Robin) of Lexington, South Carolina, Connie Kolias (husband George) of Crawfordville, Florida, and Robert Johnston (wife Lori) of Yellville, Arkansas. George entered the Army Security Agency in April of 1969, and attended school at Fort Devens, Massachusetts. He served in Vietnam for one year attached to the 330th Radio Research Company. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service, Campaign and Cross of Gallantry w/Palm Medals, and received a Meritorious Unit Citation. He was honorably discharged in April of 1972. He earned an AA from Tallahassee Community College, and attended the FSU School of Business. He was a customer service engineer for Lanier Worldwide for 20 years in the rural counties surrounding Tallahassee. In 1990 he moved his family to Wakulla County where he became a real estate associate and land developer. George D Johnston III was a loving husband to Jeanne Michele Johnston for 47 years. He was loved and adored by his children, Jason (wife Corinne), Chelsea (husband Bryan), and his grandchildren, Era Glenn, Jacob, and Michael. LAND O' LAKES - James B. "Jimmy" Jordan, 75, died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, after battling cancer. He is survived by his wife, Barbara. He enjoyed a successful career as the deputy director of the Division of Law Enforcement for the Florida Game and Freshwater Fish Commission, now known as the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Following his retirement in 1983, Jimmy owned and operated his own business as a contractor in Alligator Point, where he had been a longtime resident. He and Barbara had resided in Land O'Lakes for the past five years. Throughout his life, Jimmy enjoyed hunting, fishing and being in the company of family and friends. Jimmy's family would like to thank the Pasco-Hernando Hospice staff for its care and support throughout his illness. CAPITOLA - Zane Gray Powell Jordan, 96, a retired nursing assistant, died Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, in Madison. She was the last surviving child of their 12 children. Her work experience included the old Dale Mabry Base hospital from 1941 to 1943, 26 years at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital and 10 years at the Florida Development Commission. She was a member of Capital Heights Baptist Church in Tallahassee. She was a wonderful neighbor and friend to many and kept in touch with them even in her advanced years. Her pleasure in life was serving her Lord, family and friends. Survivors include her devoted children, Mary "Pal" Jordan Sumner of Apalachicola, Donald Feagin Jordan (and husband Pat) of Hope, Ark., Princess Akerman (and husband Joe) of Madison and Paul Rainey Jordan of Tulsa, Okla.; a stepdaughter, Vera Jordan Teston of Louisville, Ky.; 11 loving grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; 7 stepgrandchildren; numerous stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and cousins. CRAWFORDVILLE - Ronald R. Joyner, 55, died Friday, March 3, 2006, at his home after a brave and very courageous three-year fight with cancer. Ron was Baptized on Feb. 15, 2004, and he loved the Lord and served and worshiped him every day. Ron is now in the arms of Jesus, where he is free from the pain and suffering that he endured during his last few years of this life. Ron is now celebrating his new life with the Lord. Survivors include his wife, Donna B.
